SparkNC is a NEW way to do school!
As a Spark Scholar, you are in the lead role of designing your learning pathway. You can follow your interests, build the skills you want to learn, and chart your own path toward a high-tech career of your choice, all while earning high-school credit.
Through SparkNC, you can tap into a powerful inter-district network of educators and tech professionals who will shape your learning journey. To help you build your path toward success, the SparkNC Catalog helps you understand the choices you have – from the way you want to learn new content to the pathways and topics available for you to explore and guidance on how to create your own learning experiences so you that you can make the best choices for you!
To earn high school computer science credit toward graduation, you must complete the SparkNC 1 Core, earn six units, and pull it all together in your SparkNC Portfolio. You can complete your units in any order -
but your portfolio will be strongest if you add to it as you complete learning experiences!

Our SparkNC Ambassadors work with our statewide team and directly with our business partners to develop lasting opportunities for our students. They are also currently working with our statewide team to develop and launch the 2nd SparkNC High School credit.
All SparkLabs are connected across the state and students have the opportunity to collaborate with other students from various labs across the state of NC.
Mihir was 1 of 4 students chosen to attend the Lift Off Design Sprint at Stanford University due to the quality of his work in working with our statewide team, In Tandum and other business partners. He was able to attend with all expenses paid and a $750 stipend!
A student led experience where students demo a unit they have completed and create a task for the guest to complete and experience something similar.
Top team selected out of all the statewide SparkLabs to work directly with Apple and SparkNC Statewide to create the first SparkNC App!
This is a small business that 2 SparkNC students are working on to connect businesses in downtown Concord. With SparkNC Lab Leader support along the way!!
We are one of the leading counties in applications and Teamship completer's for the 3 year in a row!!
This competition is where student teams create an app from concept to competition that will solve a problem for their school or community. A group of SparkNC Students won second place in 2023/2024 school year. This year we have 6 teams participating!
